The Secure Research Platform is a database that contains a duplicate of most of the Danish Health Data Authority's registers. As a researcher, you can access the data needed for your research project via The Secure Research Platform. This provides remote access to the data, allowing you to access it online from your own workplace.
Possibilities on The Secure Research Platform
Data on The Secure Research Platform is updated with roughly the same frequency as it is updated in the registers, allowing your research project to always work with the newest data.
Once your project is set up on The Secure Research Platform, and you discover that your project requires access to additional data, it is easy to make the desired changes without having to reapply for data all over again.
As The Secure Research Platform is a secure environment, it allows for slightly wider data access. This can be the case, for instance, when a larger part of the population is needed as a control population. If at some point, you need to extract the data from The Secure Research Platform, this will be possible in special cases. Requests to extract data from The Secure Research Platform must be made in a separate application.
If you have your external data, such as data you have collected on your own or data from a high-quality clinical database, it is possible to have them added to your project on The Secure Research Platform.
Secure environment
The Secure Research Platform is a secure environment, meaning that it is designed to ensure that each citizen's data is treated confidentially.
Data on The Secure Research Platform is pseudonymous to ensure that no data is directly identifiable. Personal identification numbers, for instance, are encrypted, and names and addresses are removed. Similarly, the provider numbers of doctors and other healthcare professionals are encrypted.
The Secure Research Platform is a closed environment without access to the Internet. As a researcher, you have the option to send results via an e-mail function, but you are not allowed to send individual-level data.
Access to The Secure Research Platform is via a two-factor login with MitID. This requires you to have a MitID from the authorised institution you are collaborating with and to have a personal username and password from Research Services.
