What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that can be stored on your computer, phone, or tablet when you visit websites on the internet. Cookies have many uses, but they are fundamentally used to store information about users' browsing behavior on the website or to ensure that a page or solution functions technically. Cookies help, for example, with analyzing how the website is used, so the web editorial team can improve the user experience. In many cases, cookies may be necessary to provide a service.

Cookies are sent back and forth between your browser and a web server and can, for example, indicate:

  • Whether you are logged in
  • How you navigate the website

However, cookies cannot see who you are, your name, where you live, or whether your computer, phone, or tablet is used by one or more people. Cookies also cannot spread computer viruses or other malicious programs. Learn more about different types of cookies on the Danish Agency for Digitisation's website:

Cookies for technical functions do not require consent

When cookies are used for essential technical functions on the website, they are set without requiring your consent. This could, for example, be a login function on the website or optimization of the design for a small screen size, where a cookie is necessary for the website to function properly.

Cookies for statistics, personalization, and marketing always require consent

Unlike functional cookies, cookies for statistics, personalization, and marketing always require consent.

You can always withdraw your consent for cookies

You can always reject cookies, even after initially accepting them. You can do this by clicking the "No to all cookies" button in the "You have accepted cookies on this website" box on this page. This will delete all cookies except functional cookies from the device you are using.

Note that the option to withdraw your consent for cookies is only visible if you have previously accepted cookies.
